In 1995, residents of Leiper’s Fork came together to preserve the land’s beauty and historicity. After the population continued to steadily increase, a post office was granted in 1818 and was officially established as Leiper’s Fork, drawing its namesake from the nearby creek. As travelers of the Natchez Trace passed through this beautiful land, they began to settle down.

As pioneer families began to settle in the 1700s, most of this area’s acreage was eventually granted to Colonel Jesse Steed after the Revolutionary War. The very first residents of Leiper’s Fork were the Cherokee and Chickasaw tribes.
